Rare 19 century book sold for 7,9 million dollars at an auction

A rare books dating from the nineteenth century, was sold at auction for 7.9 million dollars, according to Reuters. The book sold is a copy in four volumes of the first edition of "Birds of America", a paper signed by Franco-American birdwatcher John James Audubon.

The volume includes drawings colored handmade and has a length of about one meter. Thus, the book entered the top three most expensive printed books in the world, according to a representative of Christie's Auction House.

The book was bought by the fourth Duke of Portland, William Henry Cavendish-Scott-Bentinck. Another volume of the same edition was sold in late 2010 for $ 10 million dollars.
