Levitra

Levitra was Viagra first rival in treating erectile dysfunction and was launched in the UK in 2003 same year in which GlaxoSmithKline and Bayer AG the companies producing it gain FDA’s approval for selling it on the US market.  Its name is thought to come from the combinations of two words “le” (the masculine pronoun in French) and “vita” (the Latin word for life) which can be translated as “the life”. Indeed this medication has regained the right to a normal life for millions of men worldwide as the new drug brought some improvements compared to its direct competitor Viagra. One of those advantages was the fact that Levitra’s administration could no longer lead to stomach ache as the drug could be taken after having a meal without worrying about the fact that the active ingredient called Vardenafil might not be properly  absorbed into the blood.

Furthermore men with diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure had no longer have to sit aside and watch others enjoy a life full of sex as Levitra gave them the chance to stand up and experience the thrill they once felt after satisfying their partners. Clinical test showed an 80% chance of success in these cases with the desired effect triggering after 30 after intake and prior to a sexual stimulation. There were cases when the medication showed its effect only after two weeks of daily treatment but that happened when sever medical conditions were presented.

Levitra’s way of action is quite easy to understand working as a barrier the drug stops  an enzyme know as the PDE5 found in the erectile tissue of the penile from breaking down the cGMP another enzyme formed there due to sexual stimulation and which is responsible for the maintenance of an erection. This means that sexual stimulation half hour after the intake of Levitra will determine its main ingredient called Vardenafil to maintain the level of cGMP high in the erectile tissue thus assuring a long and lasting erection.  This shouldn’t be mistaken for priapism (a prolonged and painful erection) which in case of occurrence should be reported immediately as it can lead to irreversible damage to one’s penis.

In order for the medicine to fully work it must be taken at least half hour before any sexual activity and no longer than once a day respecting the maximum dosage recommended by the physician. The drug remains in the system and can take effect up to 5 hours after the administration though there were men reporting it to work even after 9 hours.  Clinical trials have revealed that Levitra’s side effects are reduced compared to that of Viagra’s due mainly to the fact that the maxim dosage of the new pill is 20 mg compared to that of the blue pill which is 100 mg. The lower dosage of Levitra doesn’t mean is less effective quite the contrary it has been proven that the drug is much more targeted that Viagra and with better results in all cases.
